My name is Kim Nguyen, like about a gazillion Vietnamese girls out there. I'm not really that different, but I like to pretend that I am. I'm 19 years old and I graduated from Westmont High School in Campbell, which is the tiny town next to San Jose. If you don't know where San Jose is, it's the heart of the Silicon Valley.
I've pretty much worked all my life. From when I was 3 until I was 11, my mom owned a manicurist shop on Winchester Avenue called "Perfect Ten Nail Care". She was the most expensive shop in all of the South Bay -- 'Leet' in the nail business, I guess. When I was younger, I used to sell things at her shop that I bought for 50c for about $5.00. Yes, I was a little money mongrel even back then. The summer I was 6 years old, I made more than 1,500 dollars. ^_^ It was great. I think all the customers felt sorry for me and that's why they gave me money.
I always loved school -- I love learning and everything; but I'm not very good in school. I have very selective learning abilities. Mostly I learn all the stuff that I'm not supposed to learn and then forget the stuff that's crucial to success. I'm also horrible at remembering to bring my homework to class.
Somehow I managed to graduate high school and get accepted into most of the colleges I applied to. (Stupid Cal and UCLA. ;P) Anyhow, so I finally decided on UCI, and that's where I'm attending school right now. I'm an ICS major (Information and Computer Science), but I'm scared because it's the hardest major in the school. There's a 60% dropout rate, but I'm determined to be part of the 40% that sticks through it. I'm pretty excited, but nervous as well. It's like starting a new life for me, I guess.
My mother is kind of crazy, but I love her anyhow. We've gone through so many things together. 10 years ago, when my dad skipped out on us, we pretty much only had each other to lean on. We're very close, but are both hot-headed and are prone to arguments every 15 minutes, but cooling down and forgiving the other before we even end our arguments.
I love to write poetry, stories and
draw. I don't really have any talent, but I like to dabble in them anyway, since it gives me a way to express my feelings. Sometimes I use it as a way to get my mind off the things in the world.
The internet is a not-so-secret addcition of mine. I can spend hours on the internet at a time and do absolutely nothing. I love to have an excuse to be lazy and still seem productive at the same time.
I fall in love easily, but take a long time to fall out of love. That's what all the tests say, anyway. I tend to ignore people's bad sides. I tend to be pretty friendly. I end up liking pretty much everybody I meet unless they're always mean to me. I guess I'm too nice. I like confrontations, but I don't like to be the instigator. I really don't mind when people pick fights with me, though. It gives me something to do.
First impressions don't mean much to me.
My favorite colors are pink, orange, brown and yellow. I watch anime like I'm posessed by a demon, not stopping until the entire series is done. I tend to become obsessed with things for short periods of times and then dropping them. That's happened with pretty much all of my hobbies except for webpaging, sanrio, and picture collecting. I go to anime conventions dressed as different characters from select anime and games. All my things are pretty much either Sanrio, San-X, Japanese, Anime-Related, or school-related. Sometimes all at once.
I have the ability to take 100 pictures of myself a day and still feel like taking more pictures. I don't think I'm hot or anything, but I love taking pictures. I love to put up the "V" (or peace) sign. I guess I'm curious as to what other people see when they look at me. I look different in almost every picture I take. I've taken over 150 sticker pictures in the last 2 years, but right now my collection is only about 50 because someone stole my jacket which had many of the stickers in it. I know every sticker picture machine within a 20 mile radius of my house.
I can't stand having the same layout for very long, but I love all my old layouts pretty much, so I usually post them up in alternate servers or just start a whle new page. I've been webpaging for more than 4 years. I've had AOL since before AOL had WWW. I'm a total nerd, and am proud of it.
That's all there is about me, I suppose. ^_^* Everything else you'll learn by reading my daily logs.
